All Xbox One-branded controllers work with the Xbox One S and Xbox One X. The Kinect sensor, the special camera used for games and voice commands on the Xbox One, also works with both consoles. However, a Kinect Adapter (sold separately) is required to connect it properly.
Step 1: Set up the adapter. 1.Plug the wall plug into the power supply. 2. Insert the round connector of the power supply into the Kinect hub. 3. Insert the Kinect sensor cable into the Kinect hub. 4. Insert the included USB cable into the Kinect hub. 5.
strip the insulation from the wires. grab your soldering gun and some solder. and solder the 2 wires together. heat shrink the soldering. dip it in some candle wax to cover any wire that may still be exposed. reverse the tear down. ta-da!
Kinect sensor isnβt recognized by your Xbox One S or original Xbox One console. Note The Kinect sensor and Kinect Adapter have been discontinued. You can still use your Kinect with your Xbox 360 or Xbox One, but the sensor is not compatible with Xbox Series X|S consoles .

The Xbox One S and X models require a separate Kinect adapter. You can find them fairly easily on eBay and Amazon for around $20 or so. Is it possible to use an Xbox 360 kinect in a Xbox One S? I know it is possible to use it in Windows but I don't know if its possible to use it with an adapter in the Xbox One. Archived post. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. No not happening. The Xbox One has its own Kinect. You have to use that.

The XBox One Kinect is completely different technology from the XBox 360 Kinect. It will not work with openni2. Someone is going to need to reverse engineer the new Kinect's protocol again unless Microsoft releases a linux SDK. (Not likely.) Originally posted by tfoote with karma: 58457 on 2013-12-15.
