Open World Fractal Raid WvW Equipment can be acquired from many different sources in this game. Feel free to mix and match gearing methods in a way that works for you. Exotic or Ascended? In Guild Wars 2 there is no gear treadmill. The only two equipment tiers for endgame gear are Exotic and Ascended . Exotic gear is the second best tier. I think I now have 6 that can do through tier 3, and 3 more can do through tier 2. 2 can do through tier 4. - This was very easy to do. Berserker or Viper weapons. Berserker or Rampager rings and accessories. Attune and Infuse the rings. And 1 piece of body armor in the right type. The rest exotic. 3. Bandit Coin Purse (20-slot bag) The Bandit Coin Purse requires that players make it to the Silverwastes, which isn’t exactly a new player friendly zone, but it’s one of the quickest bags to get in GW2 since all it requires is unlocking 19 bandit weapon skins to complete the “Bandit Weapons Specialist” achievement. Bit painful, and I'd love a set on each of my characters but too much farming, and alternative stats are the priority (viper/commander). If I were you I would stick with one set and get ascended weapons done - you will get drops to make sets if you keep doing fractals. I also have 6/6 light ascended armor, and 3/6 heavy ascended armor.
Crafting. When it comes to ascended weapons and armor, crafting is 100% the most consistent, reliable and cheapest way to obtain ascended gear, especially once you have the crafting disciplines leveled up. There are 6 crafting professions when it comes to armor and weapons.

That said, exotic can be acquired very easily, and cheaply on the trading post. Exotic is only 5% behind ascended gear, so its fine for everything except the high end fractals (thanks to the stupid agony system). Guild Wars 2 is pretty skill based, so knowing how to play trump's the best gear every time. saCrOQ0.
